Heidi Lesscher

Dr. Heidi Lesscher is a neurobiologist with a main research interest in the relation between emotional circuitry and reward processing in the development of psychiatric disorders.

Heidi Lesscher is an expert in the field of neurobiological alcohol addiction research. With advanced animal models for loss of control over alcohol use she studies the neurobiological mechanisms and behavioural traits that contribute to the development of alcohol addiction and the individual variation in the susceptibility to alcohol addiction.

Heidi Lesscher is one of the coordinators of Healthy Play Better Coping, one of the thematic projects within the Utrecht University strategic theme Dynamics of Youth. Together with pediatricians, psychologists, psychiatrists, game researchers and philosophers she studies the role of play behaviour in the cognitive and emotional development in rodents and humans.
